John Franklin Williams, age 67, of Gallipolis, died Tuesday June 12, 2018 at his residence. Born September 19, 1950 in Gallipolis, Ohio he was the son of the late Calvin Williams and the late Ella Mae Larson Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one daughter, Joyce Williams; one son, Stephan Williams; three brothers, Calvin ‘Jupe’ Williams Jr., Roger Williams, and Daniel Williams; and by a sister, Lucy Simpkins.

John retired as a Lieutenant from the Gallia County Sheriff’s Department after 26 years of service. He was a Kentucky Col., and a member of the Morning Dawn Lodge #7 and the Buckeye State Sheriffs Association.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years; Judy Meredith Williams of Gallipolis; children, Michelle (Ronnie) O’Dell of Gallipolis, Craig Williams of Milton, PA, John Michael (Tiffany) Williams of Leon, WV and Jessica Williams of Gallipolis; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Faye Smith of Dayton and Cindy (Jeff) Smith of Dayton; one brother, Billy (Alice) Williams of South Point;  special nephew, Guy Drollinger; special grandson, Anthony O’Dell;  several other nieces and nephews; and by a special friend, Donald Curry.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday June 16, 2018 at Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of service.
