The Traveling Korean Memorial is coming to the Letart Community Center, 23671 Sandhill Rd., Letart, W.Va., 25253, Memorial Day Weekend 2018, brought to you by the Freedom’s Never Free Organization (www.freedomsneverfree.com).

Freedom’s Never Free is a non-profit organization located in Lancaster, OH whose mission is to honor the brave men and women who choose to serve and pay the cost of freedom proudly and without complaint; all the while displaying HONOR, INTEGRITY, STRENGTH, SELFLESSNESS, CHARACTER, LOYALTY, COURAGE, RESPECT, & DUTY.

This memorial consists of 19 soldiers walking through a Korean rice paddy, with three soldiers off to the side setting up a campfire.  Also included, are four statistical signs, one 4’x8‘ “The Forgotten War” sign, and a sign requesting silence to show respect.  The memorial is surrounded by stanchions to prohibit the public from touching the soldiers.

The Patriot Guard (www.patriotguard.org) will be planning the route and leading the memorial escort.

The Patriot Guard Riders is a 100% Volunteer, Federally registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization which ensures dignity and respect at memorial services honoring Fallen Military Heroes, First Responders and honorably discharged Veterans.  The public is encouraged to turn out to show their support as the escort travels from Lancaster thru Pomeroy, OH, Mason, Hartford, New Haven and Letart, WV.  The escort is tentatively scheduled to arrive at the Letart Community Center, approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018 for setup.  Volunteers are needed to help with setup.

Schools are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to bring students to experience this memorial and learn of the sacrifices that so many have paid for the freedoms Americans enjoy.

The Traveling Korean Memorial will be open to the public, Friday, May 25, Saturday, May 26, and Sunday morning, May 27.
