The Gallipolis Community Leo Club was recognized as Leo Club of the Year for 50 and under members at the Ohio Lions District 07 Convention held in Lancaster on March 3rd.
The Club has been active in the community since its formation last year, participating in projects and activities like putting together snack packs for Guiding Hand school, collecting socks for veterans, stuffing Christmas stockings for 104 children, collecting stuffed animals for the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, and assisting the Gallipolis Lions Club with their projects.
There are a total of 20 Leo Clubs in District Ohio 07 and the Gallipolis Club was very proud to be recognized in their first year and felt the recognition shows volunteerism and love for the community can make a difference.
“These young adults are making a difference in Gallipolis and they are looking forward to doing more projects,” said Past District Governor Lion Chris Homer with the Gallipolis Lions Club.
The Gallipolis Community Leo Club currently consists of 32 members, though Advisor Sandra Mayes and Homer, who serves at the Club Advisor, expect that number to grow significantly in the future.
