Cases recently arraigned in the Gallia County Court of Common Pleas included drug charges, theft, fraud and failure to appear.
Arraigned on indictments were:
Bryan J. Cortner, 25, Dayton pled not guilty to one 4th degree felony charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and one 5th degree felony charge of possession of drugs. According to court records, on or about February 27, 2016, Cortner did allegedly knowingly transport or have a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, in such a manner that the firearm was accessible to the operator or passenger without leaving the vehicle and allegedly knowingly obtained, possessed or used Alprazolam, when Cortner has a prior drug abuse conviction out of Vandalia Municipal Court.
Cortner was released on his own recognizance pending trial.
Alfonso J. Johnson, 27, Gallipolis, pled not guilty to multiple drug charges in two different cases. According to court records, Johnson is charged with aggravated possession of the drug Fentanyl and possession of heroin, both 5th degree felonies and trafficking in and possession of .14 grams of heroin and trafficking in and possession of .10 grams of heroin, also 5th degree felonies.
Johnson was released on his own recognizance pending trial.
Kara L. Angell, 28, Ashland, Ky., pled not guilty to theft, receiving stolen property and two counts of forgery, all 5th degree felonies. According to court records, Angell is charged with allegedly stealing checks from a single victim and subsequently cashing a stolen check.
Angell was released on her own recognizance pending trial.
Daniel R. Morrison, 29, Middleport, was charged with failure to appear in connection with a possession of drugs case still open in the Court of Common Pleas. According to court records, the recognizance bond on which Morrison had been placed in the possession of drugs case was revoked and he was placed on a $50,000 10 % bond pending trial.
Wendy L. Green, 44, Crown City pled not guilty to one count of telecommunications fraud, a 5th degree felony. Green was released on her own recognizance pending trial.
Joseph A. Collins, 34, Gallipolis pled not guilty to one count of aggravated possession of the drug Dexmethylphenidate, a 5th degree felony. Collins was released on his own recognizance pending trial.
