Host Gallipolis Gallia Academy rallied from a 23-22 halftime deficit to defeat visiting Jackson 61-48 in a non-league boys basketball game in the Centenary gym on Saturday.

The victory left Gallipolis 3-0 on the year. Jackson dropped its first varsity game in four starts this year.

Gallipolis hit the road Tuesday for their first Ohio Valley Conference game at Rock Hill.  Jackson will play at Washington C.H. on Dec. 15.

After one period Saturday, Gallipolis led 13-12. After a nip and tuck second quarter, JHS forged ahead 23-22.

Gallipolis broke away in the third period by outscoring the lronmen, 24-12 to take a 45-35 lead into the final quarter.

GAHS outscored the lronmen 16-13 to gain the 61-48 win.

For Gallipolis, Justin Peck poured in 24 points and Zach Loveday added 19 points with numerous rebounds, several blocked shots and assists.

For Jackson, Payton Speakman had 11 points and Cooper Donaldson seven.

In the JV game, Gallipolis pulled away in the final period for a 39-34 win over the Ironboys. The win left GAHS 2-1 on the year. Jackson suffered its first loss in four games.

Jackson led 9-7 after one period, but Gallipolis tied the score at 13-13 at halftime and it was still tied at 22-22 after three periods. GAHS outscored the visitors 17-12 in the final canto for the win.

In the freshman game, Gallipolis defeated the Jackson yearlings 42-30 to remain unbeaten in three games. It was Jackson’s first loss in four games.

Gallipolis led 12-9, 24-18 and 38-30 at the quartermarks.

Addition: According to the Gallia Academy Athletic Facebook page, the Blue Devils JV and Varsity beat Rock Hill. Varsity score: 82-35.
