The Gallia County Chamber of Commerce is announcing a new Executive Director, according to Josh Simmons, Chamber President. She is Rachel Newberry, who accepted the position and assumed her duties on Monday, November 6th. She replaces Michelle Miller, who has been the Executive Director since November, 2013, and resigned to again publish The Gallia Hometown Herald.
A native of Gallipolis and a graduate of Gallia Academy High School, Newberry received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication, with an emphasis in Public Relations, from the University of Rio Grande. She comes to the Chamber, with prior experience at the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce. Her background in marketing and public relations included positions also with the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Paramount Arts Center.
She is married to David Newberry, and they have 12 year old twin daughters, Taylor and Emma. Locally, she is an active member of the Gallipolis Junior Women’s Club.
In making the announcement, Simmons said, “The Gallia County Chamber of Commerce has gone through some significant changes, within the past four years, and the people involved have done an exceptional job, managing those changes. It is time, now, to move forward with more positive changes and we feel Rachel is the person who can help us in the leadership role, with the assistance of the Associate Director, Elisha Orsbon, and Volunteer Marianne Campbell.”
