GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – The Gallipolis River Recreation Festival will kick off on July 2, 2017, starting with the Queen Scholarship Pageant and Jr. Miss Pageant at the Bossard Memorial Library. Many events are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday as well.

On Monday, July 3, the French Art Colony’s Festival Exhibit will start at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Many events start at noon, including the opening ceremony, inflatables until 10 p.m., and concessions and artisans open for business. From 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., there will be gospel music in the Amphitheater, performed by Neal Family, The Towes, Southern Harmony, Victory River, Singing Shafers and the Raineys. At 5:30 p.m. there will be Contemporary Christian music performed in the Amphitheater from Ordinary People, Rodney Pike Church of God, Vinton Baptist, River City Fellowship, and Fellowship of Faith. The Ariel’s Sumer Tuba Time in the park will be at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Gallipolis Jr. Women’s Club Talent Show at 8 p.m. on the side stage. Anyone wanting to participate in the talent show, should sign up before the deadline, which is June 30.

On Tuesday, July 4, the Baby Tot Contest starts the day at 9 a.m. on the side stage. Inflatables, concessions and artisans, and the French Colony’s Festival Exhibit all open at 10 a.m. There will be eating contests on the side stage at noon sponsored by Guinther’s Custom Cuts, Sprinkle & Pop, and Domino’s Pizza. There is a limited number of participants allowed for the eating contests. The Kid’s Zone will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Starting at 5 p.m., there will be acts performing in the Amphitheater, including Devin Henry, Cee Cee Miller, The Deep Creatures, and Paul “Bub” Williams. The Independence Day parade will be at 7 p.m. with the fireworks display starting at 10 p.m.
