The Field of Hope recently donated $500 to the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office for the purchase of puncture and cut resistant gloves.
Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin posted a thank-you to Field of Hope on the GCSO Facebook page.
“On behalf of the staff of the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, I would like to thank the Field of Hope for their generous monetary donation,” wrote Champlin. “This donation will be used to purchase puncture and cut resistant duty gloves to help safeguard our officers in the field. We greatly appreciate our community partnerships and how those partnerships are benefitting the citizens of Gallia County.”
According to Field of Hope Executive Director Kevin Dennis, the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office has worked closely with their facility in their efforts and they wanted to support the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office’s efforts to protect their deputies.
“There’s a number of hazards when you investigate a potential drug scene or drug crime. Besides the potential inhalation hazards, there’s also a puncture hazard from syringes that are often present,” said Dennis. “The Field of Hope has partnered with the Sheriff’s Department and many others in our community to try to stem the tide on the drug abuse plague.”
One effort both Field of Hope and the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office partner with is the Citizens for Prevention and Recovery (CPR), a coalition of volunteers working to help reduce the negative impact of substance abuse on Gallia County quality of life.
