The Gallipolis Blue Angels defeated the visiting Oak Hill girls Tuesday night in a Foundation Game on the GAHS hardwood, 55-45.
In the nightcap, the Oak Hill boys held on to beat Gallipolis 53-44 before a good-sized crowd.
In the opener, Gallipolis led 24-23 at halftime. The score was tied at 28-28 after three periods. GAHS outscored the visitors 27-17 in the final quarter to pick up the win.
Gallipolis was 9 of 15 at the foul line. Oak Hill was 11 of 15.
In the boy’s game, Oak Hill led 13-6, 32-18 and 41- 32 at the quartermarks.
Gallipolis pulled within two points 46-44, with 2:34 left to play on a short jumper by Cory Call, but the Oaks pulled away in the final two minutes to ice the win.
For the Blue Devils, Zack Loveday led the way with 16 points. Call added 10. For the Oaks, Mason Darby and Brett Long were top scorers.
Gallipolis will open its 2017-18 season at home against Athens on Friday, Dec. 1.
