GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – The staff at the Bossard Memorial Library will hold their 2017 Summer Reading Kick-Off on Saturday, June 10 at 2 p.m.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse, along with Donald and Daisy Duck will be there. Children are invited to meet, greet, and take pictures with the characters.

There will be stories, games, inflatables, face painting and a caricature artist for all to enjoy. They will also have Disney Trivia for people to participate in. For anyone wanting to know which Disney Princess they are, the Library will have a laptop setup for use. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Disney character, or wear their favorite Disney shirt.

Rachel Barker; Services Coordinator at the library, had the following things to say about the event. “When you inspire a child to read, that is lifelong gift. I love this year’s summer reading theme; ‘Build a Better World.’ To go with our theme, we are planning to do a lot of community outreach to instill kindness among one another. I want to continue to inspire children to read books that they love. It melts my heart to see children sitting in the library reading their library books. One of the parents told me about a story of a child who hates to read. She just started bringing him to the library. He was so excited about earning his prize. He has already completed the summer reading program. In earning that prize, he discovered reading is fun. It makes me so happy to see children excited when I can find the right book for them. I want the children to fall in love with reading books. Books can take you on an adventure. Books help children expand their imagination and experience the world. I encourage parents to read to their children every day. Reading books promotes creativity, originality, and inspiration. Bossard Memorial Library has something for everyone.”

This event is open to the public of all ages, and admission is free.
