Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood reports deputies allegedly located methamphetamine labs and made multiple drug arrests on Thursday September 26, 2013.
Deputies were first called to assist an Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife Officer at the Old Town Creek Wildlife Area on a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, Deputies and a Wildlife Officer allegedly located a mobile methamphetamine lab with four one pot reactionary vessals, along with other drugs and drug paraphernalia resulting in the arrest of Patricia McFall of Portland and Whitney Laughlin of Ravenswood WV.
Both McFall and Laughlin are being charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of chemicals to produce methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine.
McFall and Laughlin are both being held at the Middleport Jail. Deputies were also assisted at the scene by Middleport Police, Racine Volunteer Fire Department, and Meigs County EMS Squad 33.
Deputies then made a traffic stop at State Route 124 and State Route 7 on a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle involved in a breaking and entering which had just occurred. After further investigation it was learned that the vehicle was not involved in the breaking and entering, but the driver Leslie Storms of Pomeroy had a felony warrant out of Gallia County.
After searching the vehicle deputies allegedly located drugs, drug paraphernalia and a loaded hand gun. Storms was taken to Gallia County on the warrant, but will having pending charges for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and weapons under disability in Meigs County.
Also arrested on the traffic stop was Zachary Matthew of Gallipolis for possession of drug abuse instruments.
Deputies also responded on a tip of a methamphetamine lab at the Old Fort Meigs Campground. Upon arrival deputies located seven one pot methamphetamine reactionary vessels. No one however was at the residence and the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Middleport Police, Rutland Volunteer Fire Department, and Meigs County EMS Squad 44.
